Actually you only need a few essentials to actually start a garden. The only tools you actually need are a shovel, a trowel and a rake. These things come in a bunch of different sizes so what matters most is that you choose the right sizes for the garden plot that you are setting up. It is actually possible to garden with only your hands but you can make things easier on yourself if you have a few tools.
Your job doesn't stop after you've planted seeds. You'll need to devote time and attention to your garden. Although plants sometimes do manage to grow even with minimal tending. If you'd like to have a beautiful, healthy garden, however, your plants need to be cared for properly. You should keep a watchful eye out for things like pests and weeds and the drying out of leaves and stalks.
Unless you take care of your plants, they're going to wilt and die. Treat your plants like how you'd treat a pet. The need loving care in order to thrive.
When it comes to plants, natural and local are best. We don't mean "green" or organic gardening methods when we use these terms. We are talking about growing things that are native to your local area. If you live in a rainy climate, for example, don't try to grow plants that need dry climates to thrive. If you live in Arizona, you'll have a difficult time growing things that need lots of moisture and shade. If you're a total beginner, you need to choose only those plants that are supposed to grow in the area you are already living. It helps make gardening so much easier and so much more successful a hobby for you.
