Diablo III - Worth the Wait

It's finally time for IGT to examine the 800 pound gorilla within the gaming room, Diablo III (D3). The sport continues to be out for a few weeks now and I feel that I can finally provide you with, your readers, a good review (the truth is I have been too busy attacking the darkness to create one). It has been twelve years since Diablo II (D2) was released so I've been waiting eagerly with this game, continue reading to ascertain if waiting for was worthwhile.

When you have played Diablo I (D1) and/or D2, the controls will feel familiar. There are slight tweaks, mostly using the skill bars, but overall it is the same clickfest you're accustomed to. The inventory system is exactly the same grid and gear slot based window. Items have similar stats as in Diablo II, however with damage per second (DPS) already calculated for you.

There are five classes within the release of Diablo III; Barbarian, Monk, Demon Hunter, Wizard, and Witch Doctor. The barbarian and Wizard should feel familiar as they are near to D2 classes (the wizard being what the sorceress was inD2). The monk is comparable to the paladin class from D2 and also the Witch Doctor is similar to the Necromancer. The Demon Hunter takes the place from the Amazon but is only somewhat similar.

The story is really fairly engaging to have an action RPG and I found myself eager to begin to see the distinction between the different stories for each class. The primary narrative is actually the same but there have been small cut scenes that happened at major story points in each act that were different for each class. Something I loved about the story is they tied in plots all the way in which back in D1.

The internet only bet additional numbers doesn't bother me an excessive amount of when i played D2 exclusively on battle.net to play with my buddies. At first it had been annoying as the servers had issues on launch, but I played World of Warcraft for 6 years therefore it just felt like any normal patch Tuesday or expansion launch to me; after a week things settled down and that i have not experienced any issues since. I can see how players with no consistent internet connection might have a terrible experience however. It's somewhat annoying that anyone on your friends list can join your game every time they want which can be dangerous if you are inside a boss battle and every one of an abrupt the boss is extra hard as it scales up for that beginners. On the other hand, should you and your friend want to play together, the quick join feature is a godsend to the multiplayer aspect of this game.

The auction house is a nice addition to the sport; After all the in-game currency auction house, not the real money auction house (RMAH). I have used some of my hard earned gold to get myself some new weapons and lots of gems for decent prices and also have sold some of my un-needed equipment for some decent gold increases. I do not plan to take part in the RMAH as I dislike micro-transactions and together with a number of other people feel the Blizzard cut is simply too much.

The graphics are a fairly weak aspect of farmville. I would say they are comparable to 2005 and 2006 games. For a game that has been 10 years in development I'd have liked to have seen better graphics. But then again Diablo has never been cutting edge for the reason that department. The game is full 3d unlike D2 which in fact had 2d sprites, and the spell effects are nice. But overall they're lacking.

Was the sport worth the wait? I believe so. I'm enjoying it a lot and love playing with friends. I have got a few characters into Nightmare and so i possess a ways to go before I play it full-scale. I can also observe how this game could possibly get old pretty quick as even with 5 classes to experience through getting to level 60 does not appear to be an enormous undertaking. D3 still has two months left inside it for me personally I would say.

To conclude, D3 is a fine game otherwise a shining gem. It feels as though a natural increment in the Diablo franchise from D2. The gameplay is familiar and super fun. The storyline is engaging and for those fans from both previous games it ties up some loose ends. IGT gives Diablo III a 9 on the d10 of hack and slash adventures.
