Honda Accord: A Brief History - Ideal Engines
In 1976 the Honda car company released its first version of the Honda Accord.The first generation was released like a three door hatch back model and ran from 1976 through 1981. The car itself was slightly larger than the Honda civic and was geared towards people who wanted a mid sized vehicle with good gas mileage.It was the very first Japanese smaller vehicle designed with features like a tachometer, intermittent wipers, an am/fm radio and cloth seats as standard equipment.
In 1982 Honda released the second generation Accord. This generation ran from 1982-1985 coupled with a far more modernized interior and exterior in comparison with earlier models. Mechanically this version was very similar to earlier versions. The newest revisions included using shag carpet, new velour cabin trim along with chrome accents. Because of its time that it was known as probably the most reliable engines in the world.
The third generation from the Accord arrived 1986 and ran till 1989. This generation saw a revamp of the exterior design taking key traits from the Honda Prelude like flip up headlamps, and a stylised rear tail light cluster design. This generation was the first one to add a double wishbone suspension in both the front and rear of the vehicle offering four wheel independent suspension which greatly improved stability and handling while driving.
Your fourth generation of the Accord was brought into the fall into line in 1990 and ran until 1993. This generation was larger than previous offerings and incorporated interior and exterior design changes to make the vehicle look and feel sleeker than previous offerings.
The 5th generation of the Accord was launched in 1994 and ran until 1997. The set of revisions with this model change included more rounded bumpers, modified front fascia and new signal lights in-front and rear to provide the vehicle a softer look and feel.
The sixth generation of the Accord was released in 1997 and ran till 2002. The Accord was now available both in standard models and new performance versions too offering new engines, alloy wheels as well as an range of other inclusions in add flash and elegance for an otherwise subdued vehicle. Coming equipped as standard with ABS brakes, security systems, engine immobilizers and air conditioning.
The seventh generation of the Accord was launched in 2003 and ran until 2007.
