It appears like they are more concerned about getting "genuine" then they are about promoting reco... If you listen to today's music on the radio, you will hear a wide assortment of songs and beats. You even nowadays hear men and women singing over hip hop beats, and men and women rapping over r&b beats! The two genres are blending a lot in today's music. One particular of the errors that a lot of underground rap artists make is, they are so concerned about becoming what they call "real" as in becoming gangsta or hard. It seems like they are a lot more concerned about getting "real" then they are about selling records and making funds. So they use only beats that are hard and "gangsta" sounding. They speak about shooting and killing more than these tough rap beats. It really is ok for them to do this if this is what they want, but every single song on the album can't be that way if they want to be a successful multi-platinum selling artist. If you want to get your music on the radio, and on BET or MTV, you have to have at least a couple of singles, that are much more commercial. A lot of artists do not do this, and they miss out on a whole complete industry of feasible buyers! Listeners from the Radio and T.V. will get your CD! Which 1 do you feel will get you to Platinum Status More rapidly? My artists are going to sell 200,000+ CD's this year! How about you? So the point is, if your goal is to capture as many sells as you can, then you have to make music that everybody can listen to. You can not make music only for the streets. You have to make it for the streets, the club, the radio/tv, and for the car. That way, you can get sells and cash from all of those different markets, rather of just from the streets. Today's hit music has 1 thing in widespread: No matter how stupid it may sound, it is catchy. Do not believe me? Listen to Laffy Taffy! It may get horrible ratings from a lot of Hip-Hop Heads, but the girls really like it, and it sticks with you. Think about it: How several times have you talked about it with somebody considering that the song came out? How numerous times have you listened to it when it came on the radio just to see how stupid it was?
