Types of Seizures

When individuals think about someone having a seizure most would think of them dropping to the ground as well as their whole body convulsing. This is when people think wrong. There are several various kinds of seizures out there that people don't know exist. Simply because someone has epilepsy or seizures doesn't mean they fall down when they have one. I'm going to go through the different types of seizures so people could have a better knowledge of them.

Seizures are placed into two different categories: generalized seizures and partial seizures.

Generalized: deal with electrical charge to each side of the brain.

Partial: cope with electrical charge in a single limited area of the brain or just one side of the brain.

Generalized Seizures

Let's move on off by getting digging into generalized seizures. A few of the various kinds of seizures within this category are the type of methods many people would imagine a seizure.

Tonic-Clonic: known as the "grand mal" and also the main seizure that people think about when they hear the word. The person will drop towards the floor and almost every muscle stiffens while the person jerks. It always lasts One to three minutes and also the person can certainly injure themself.

Seizures in adults

Absence: This is when a person blanks out anywhere from a couple seconds to Thirty seconds and it is unacquainted with their surroundings. They might blink their eyes repetitively and eyes may also roll up in to the back of their head. Those who have these kinds of seizures may have 30 - 60 a day.
Atonic: In this seizure people basically lose all muscle and strength and merely drop to the ground. They stay conscious and aware in this type of seizure but does not mean its easy on their own body.
Myoclonic: Most people wouldn't even see these as seizures because they are so simple. They are very brief jerks of the muscle or a muscle. They merely continue for a second or two. It's such as the sudden jerk you might feel that wakes you up when falling asleep.
Tonic: Leads to a person's body to stiffen up which last for around 20 seconds. The person doesn't always fall but could lose balance when muscles stiffen or maybe they have multiple seizures in a row. This particular seizure often happens while one is sleeping.
Clonic: Not often seen alone and only consists of repeated jerking. The jerking can't be stopped even if someone tries to restrain person getting the seizure. This kind of seizure usually only happens using the body stiffening part or "grand mal" as I talked about before.

Partial Seizures

Partial seizures from what I know can be very hard to diagnose because individuals do some weird things during these seizures.

Simple Partial: The one thing different concerning the simple partial are people remain alert and may recall the whole thing. However the way it is varies from individual to individual. It can be everything from a problem in ones stomach, a feeling of deja vu, or even the sound of ringing. There's a whole listing of stuff that occur to those who have these. They only last as much as two minutes.
Complex Partial: If you notice somebody have one of these simple you may think they're just crazy. People become unaware of everything going on around them. The person will normally repeat actions things like picking at clothing, making noises, swiping in the air etc. The individual could also do embarrassing items like start taking off their clothing or get themselves into a dangerous situation. They do not last lengthy but the body's normally confused from 15 minutes to hours afterwards and do not remember anything.

The seizures I discussed are the most typical seizures a person will see. I used to think there is just one kind of seizure until I began getting them. I really hope everybody who look at this will be more aware of people who have epilepsy or seizures.
