Pen spinning is some sort of object manipulation that will require the deft manipulation of a writing instrument with one's palms. Pen spinning is termed "pen mawashi" (compare for instance mawashi-geri, "round-kick") or, more disparagingly, "rÅnin mawashi" "college university student spinning" in Japan the location where the pastime has been popular since at least the 1970s, and in which the Pen Spinning Association Japan currently is dedicated to promoting the aspiring talent. While its origins remain unclear, pen-spinning is rapidly gaining international popularity as a result of on-line video sharing and forums.
